Sally Puff Courtney
A highly sought-after and respected real estate professional with nearly five decades of experience, Sally set out to explore the beautiful Rocky Mountains after graduating from Bucknell University in 1974. Immediately, she found herself in Telluride, a historic Victorian town nestled in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado and has called this community home for 50 years.
She has devoted herself to Telluride through the years, actively engaging in community events and participating at the local level. She proudly served as President of the Telluride Association of Realtors, was a member of the Board of Directors for the Bank of Telluride, Board of Directors for One to One Mentoring Program, and has been Realtor of the Year in 1996, 2006, and 2021. Presently, Sally serves as Chair for the Telluride RPAC committee for TAR which advocates for property rights.
Giving back to the community that has cared for her family and friends over the years is one of Sally’s main passions outside of real estate. In 2018, she became involved with the Telluride Science, the largest independent molecular center in the world. When she came to understand the global impact of Telluride Science’s work and how they are able to export science from our tiny town to points all around the globe, it gave her goosebumps. She is now a TS Board Member and was actively involved in the local effort to purchase the permanent home for TS at the Telluride Depot, a project that will permanently secure the Depot as a community asset and provide a year-round facility for TS.
Currently, Sally is actively involved in a second campaign for TS in which they have raised 2.6 million dollars out of their 6-million-dollar goal. These funds are supporting the renovation of the Telluride Depot, turning it into a state-of-the-art science and innovation center. In addition to her work with TS, Sally is also a strong supporter of the hospital district which is in the midst of planning to build a new hospital in the next five years. Additionally, as an art lover herself, Sally spends much of her time supporting local art and theater programs, with a special focus on Telluride’s youth, including the Ah Haa School, Telluride Academy and providing scholarships to graduating seniors of Telluride High School.
Sally is a proud mother of one son who graduated from Duke University as well as from the Goizueta Business School at Emory (2013). Her son Tyler now lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Shannon, their daughter, Sloane Elizabeth, and son, Patrick Owen. Tyler is working in commercial real estate as the Managing Principal at Cushman and Wakefield.
In her leisure time, Sally enjoys tending to her garden, traveling, skiing, sailing, and fishing, but her favorite is to sip an incredible Bordeaux on her patio with her wonderful husband Jim Harley, who is a Kentucky gentleman and a fellow Bucknellian. Whether you choose Telluride as your home or your next vacation retreat, Sally’s dedication, compassion, and extensive real estate experience will guide you every step of the way.
